Confidentiality
Simply put, confidentiality at Exhale Therapy means that the information you share during your session stays between you and your therapist.
Limits to Confidentiality
The only thing that takes precedence over confidentiality is safety. There are four limits to confidentiality where your counsellor is legally (and ethically) obligated to report to the appropriate authorities:
- Intent to harm yourself or others;
- If there is risk of harm to a child and/or dependent;
- If you disclose abuse caused at the hands of a licensed professional (i.e. a doctor or counsellor);
- If your therapist's case notes are subpoenaed for court.
